  1. re: the stupid post: you know, I finally realised what your general both-houses-poxism routine reminds me of. Every episode of South Park. You know — “sure, they’ve got George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Lucifer…but you guys have got Michael Moore, and he’s so smug!”. I assume you’ll be delighted with the resemblance. (yeah, I know, Obama drones, expansion of presidential illegality, etc. Only in America would he be considered “left”).

Anyhoo, the smartest observation I ever saw about the policy problem of climate change was by Kevin Drum:

“If you were teaching a graduate seminar in public policy and challenged your students to come up with the most difficult possible problem to solve, they’d come up with something very much like climate change. It’s slow-acting. It’s essentially invisible. It’s expensive to address. It has a huge number of very rich special interests arrayed against doing anything about it. It requires international action that pits rich countries against poor ones. And it has a lot of momentum: you have to take action now, before its effects are serious, because today’s greenhouse gases will cause climate change tomorrow no matter what we do in thirty years.”

    Amen, brother.

  2. I really don’t think everyone who talks about climate change on the left is an idiot. Those guys are though.

The thing about global warming causing an ice age is just bullshit, for example. Folks propounding that nonsense should be mocked.

  3. The global warming causing an ice age thing is hogwash but what about the cyclical ice age theory? That is, we’re due for an ice age or are supposed to be in the midst of a cooling cycle but global warming may be affecting this.
