Utilitarians Everywhere

At Quartz I wrote about Hugh Hefner and the American dream.

At A Beautiful Perspective I wrote about how sex worker advocacy groups in Alaska are trying to pass a law to prevent police having sex with sex workers before arresting them.

At the Forward I wrote about Star Trek and Jews of the future (or not of the future.)

At Splice Today I wrote about

—the metaphor he doesn’t have a racist bone in his body and radicalizing racism.

—how Charles doesn’t deserve Jean in The Lady Eve.

At the Reader I wrote a little piece on Torres new Three Futures album, with which I am somewhat obsessed.

At Bandcamp I wrote about Maalem Mahmoud Gania’s last album of bluesy Islamic droning awesomeness.

  1. Been a looong time since I saw it, but I remember being disappointed by The Lady Eve. Hail the Conquering Hero and The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek are *so* funny that I’ve disliked everything else by Sturges by comparison. (Sullivan’s Travels is too obviously self-serving, for mine, and just not funny enough)
